The Camrose Academy of Curling is proud of the line-up of qualified and knowledgeable instructors who share their knowledge and assist with the technical development of all our curlers.
Our instructors blend a good mix of experience and youth and they share one common trait – all these instructors have a passion for the game of curling and enjoy sharing their knowledge with the next generation of curlers.
The student to instructor ratio is targeted at 1 instructor to every 5 to 6 students.
Roger Galenza is in his 5th year as head coach of the Augustana Vikings curling program and was the CCAA Coach of the Year for 2015/16 and ACAC Coach of the Year for 2014/15. He has brought 9 of 11 college teams to Conference Championships in four years, winning two Conference Championships (mixed curling) and 4 silver medals (women’s, men’s and mixed curling). Roger also spearheads the Little Rockers Curling Program in Camrose.
Darren McDermott has coached for the Camrose Composite High School. He has a teaching background as a AGA teaching Golf Professional. Darren is currently the Chair for the Camrose Academy of Curling Society.
Steve Lindberg is in his 3rd year as assistant coach of the Augustana Vikings Curling program. He is an alumni of the Augustana college and won a bronze medal in the ACAC conference final curling with the Augustana Vikings mixed curling team.
Augustana Campus U of A curlers have taken the Club Coaching certification program and we are fortunate to have them as instructors for the Academy sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for the game.
Curtis Hoveland is a retired school teacher and for many years developed and managed the junior and schools based curling program in Wainwright.
